The blacksmith

 The blacksmith

This story is told in a small village in the Great Nation of Venterbre (or GNV for short). This village was called Shermnatin. It was known for its great buildings and amazing market’s. One of the richest families was the Mournin-glade’s. The family consisted of the father, Eilauver. The mother, Essaerae and their new son, Ulrik. Why were they the richest? They were the builders of this marvelous town. Ulrik’s father and grand-father were builders as well, some of his family members said that even his great uncle had been a mighty warrior.

The family had high hopes for Ulrik. He was the strongest growing up. By the time he was 13 he was almost able to lift a whole cart by himself though, he did not want to be a builder. From his trips to other villages he would stop and look in awe at the blacksmiths with their big hammers and all the beautiful swords made by them. Though, whenever he would stop he would quickly get tugged away by his mother. He knew what he wanted to be and didn't want to let anyone stop him, Ulrik wanted to be a blacksmith the best in the world.

As Ulrik grew his personality changed apart from his determination to be a blacksmith. He had grown to love cats, even rescuing a kitten as well. There was one question left unanswered though. Why did he not want to be a builder? Well, after his parents kept on questioning him he finally crumbled. He did not want to be a blacksmith because he felt there was not enough and he had always had an eye for carefully crafted swords and other weapons though, his parents were supportive of him and his choices.

Soon enough he was able to open his own smithy in a slightly far place where he wouldn't be able to wake people with his banging. It had fans installed on the ceiling, large containers full to the brim with metal, Many different hammers large enough to squash a head and also some smaller ones for more fine details, molds for swords and other things and a large furnace to heat the metal in. All types of people would come to Ulrik, Assassins, Warriors and sometimes just random people who want a sword just for the decoration. Soon enough from years of practice he became the best blacksmith in all the land. One day, Ulrik was about to close the shop with the snow thundering down, the machines were almost done cooling, all the tools were put away and he was about to snuff out the candle but then... A cold but long hand was put on his shoulder. He turned around at the figure that matched his height though, it was covered in a long black cloak with the hood drawn. As the figure leaned forward Ulrik could see its face, a large smile was plastered across its face with its teeth bared and their eyes.. Ulrik will never forget those eyes. They were terrifying and opened widely with a hint of desperate-ness as the person stared blankly at Ulrik. Ulrik mustered up the courage to speak.

“Hello, sorry to disappoint but you will have to come back tomorrow-” He said quietly before getting cut off by the figure with its eyebrows slightly turned up and its face getting strangely close

“Look here, I really need you to make me a weapon and you are gonna make it or there… Will be consequencesss…” The person's speech was cool and collected but it sounded like its tongue could be that of a snake and had a venomous hiss to it. Ulrik just stared at it remembering all the details of its face, the pale white skin, the constraint smile, the piercing black dark blue eyes and the small lock of auburn hair that fell upon its forehead, he knew who it was now… It was T̶h̸e̵ ̴S̶m̵i̸l̶e̵r̶.

Ulrik had been warned of him but had always thought it was some stupid myth spread around but they were all true. He was overwhelmed with fear that he just slowly backed into the smithy and the figure followed him. The figure spoke, “I have a drawing here that I want you to complete. Please try and follow it to the best of your abilities.”

Ulrik, shakly responded, “Yes, I will do that s-sir.” before unfolding the piece of slightly crumpled paper and looking at the design. It looked at first as if it was a normal two handed longsword but, on one side it had a toothed edge. The grip was a toxic red colour with a dark toxic green wrap on it. The pommel had a small green thing in it before he saw the label, it was an emerald, Ulrik had no idea where he would get one but then he heard a scratching at his door before he noticed the draft and turned around. It was The Smiler again this time he was holding something in his hand and a bag was strapped over his shoulder.

The Smiler fiddled with something, Ulrik caught a glimpse of it, turns out that it was the emerald in the drawing nd suddenly he spoke, ‘’I think you might need this.” he tossed the gem with Ulrik catching it ‘’And to make sure you do it I will pay you now.’’ taking off the bag and giving it to Ulrik. The smiler walked out, closing the door behind him.

Ulrik quickly got to work. He was exhausted from repetitively raining the hammer and he worked until dawn and finally.. He had finished the sword. The room smelt of burning cedar and the room was boiling. Ulrik packaged up the sword and waited outside and soon enough he saw The Smiler walking and he met Ulrik half way. “Such amazing craftsmanship..” The Smiler spoke before putting the sword away and leaving. Urik never forgot that day.

Character plan.

Character plan, name + brief description.
Linion ‘Scarecrow’ Tuncor She gained the name Scarecrow because of her incredible stealth, silence, and ability to stay still. She has a quiet but raspy voice. Despite being the daughter of king Moxie she looks nothing like him and doesn't act like a royale either. Though being only a young teen she still protects her father/ the king with all her might.

Physical apperance, clothing/costume, general appearance etc,
She has long and fluffy pine/dark green hair. Entrancing royale blue eyes and very pale blue skin, almost white. She is 16, 5’2 and 48.2 kg. Underneath her large brown hat that is entangled with dried, moss green pumpkin leaves she had two pointy elf ears and a pair of shamrock green curled horns just above them. She is fairly skinny and reasonably heighted. She wears a cerulean scarf that is wrapped around the lower half of her face like a mask. Her clothes consist of a long light cerulean coat, a walnut and tortilla coloured long sleeve underneath, stone blue pants with thick leather knee pads, a pair of brown boots and a slate coloured long cape that goes down to the back of her knees.

Actions, what does the character do? E.g. interactions with others, the way they stand/move, look at others.
Linion has a stance that can only be described as always alert but it is slightly slumped. Usually king Moxie would ask her to get him a beer or a wine from the bar, always forgetting that she couldn't and she ends up dragging him down to the bar to get it himself. “Scarecrow can you go get me a drink from the bar?” “Sir, you know that I am too young to go into the bar.” “Please?” “No. I will grab you by the back of your neck and drag you there just so you get it yourself or, why don't you just ask one of the servants?” “Fine.” King Moxie is not overweight or lazy; he is just tired most of the time and cannot think straight.

Environment, location, objects in location, maybe an object that the character carries or uses.
At all times Linion has a great axe strapped to her back. The village is very large and full of people but where she resides the most is the castle and its courtyard. The village where she resides is on an island with ships arriving daily with fresh produce and people. There are daily markets that Linion likes to attend whenever it is her day off or she snuck out though sneaking out is not easy since word travels fast so guards quickly find out about Linion sneaking out because they over hear “The scarecrow was at my stall. I wonder if she’s here if the king is here too!” and they get her back to the castle since she is not allowed to leave for simple things like that.

Words, how does the character talk, what sort of language do they use? How do they say it and to whom?
She talks in a very serious tone that is slightly monotone and sometimes bittersweet. Whenever she is talking to her father her tone is more sour and she sounds sick of his sh-- though she isn't like this around guests. The most common thing said to king moxie is ‘’Sir, you know that I cannot go to the bar because I am too young.’’ and if he insists then she just goes and gets him some grape juice instead of wine.

Minecraft Mystery Box!

Hello. For the past while I have been doing an activity called Minecraft mystery box. The mystery box challenge was to build a theme park ride. I had two partners and that was Abe and Bluebell, since Abe wasn't there on the first day me and Bluebell did brainstorming for the ride.

At first we wanted to do a tea cup ride but that didn't work out, we then tried to do a horse ride and yet again.. It failed... But then! An idea! I decided that we could make a bumper cars ride!

Below I have included a small collage of photos taken from Minecraft.

Manners

Reasons why it is good to have manners in a classroom.

Hello today I am going to be displaying why it is important to have manners in the classroom and why it is essential.

One of the main reasoning is that would wouldnt have to write a stupid six hundred word essay about why you have to have manners just because a few people were annoying though, just like the american police force, one bad apple spoils the bunch.

Being rude is still not nice though the world is a cruel place and people need to learn to be nice but also the teachers and making a bunch of soft pushovers. A good example of a pushover is an employee who is getting f---ed over by their boss(es) and just won't quit or stay against them but then again there is that fear of getting fired because they might need to feed a family or pay bills. I wrote a small argument about how putting up a fight is good in some cases and I will quote a paragraph from it here “To fight could also be to argue or to physically hurt someone. Fight: “take part in a violent struggle involving the exchange of physical blows or the use of weapons.” “struggle to overcome, eliminate, or prevent.”. The world is cruel and sometimes you have to fight to prevent yourself from being used. If you don't fight back then people will take advantage of you so basically, you don't want to be a pushover (a person who is easy to overcome or influence). If people see that you are an easy target they will use that to their advantage.”

That is the end of my small rant about putting up a fight, I will now talk about respect. Respect can earn you trust and trust is a good thing because then you can take advantage of that person's trust for you. You could easily ruin that person but making them have trust issues and never be able to trust anyone and therefore not be able to find love because they can not trust anyone. On the flip side you could keep that trust and make it strong. Think of trust like a wall, the maore trust someone has with you the higher and more stable it gets. You lying to that person could be a small stick of dynamite planted on your side of the wall where they can not see. Secrets can be like more little sticks of dynamite that a person can not see and if that person finds a crack in the wall and sees all those lies and secrets the wall will be blown up and all that trust is lost.

Manners could also build up trust and also just make people feel better and then you start a domino chain of people feeling good or you could stop a domino chain of people feeling bad. Manners can include you complimenting someone, picking up your trash after you, saying please and thank you, accepting your own mistakes and not passing the blame onto someone else. Another example of manners is not fighting fire with fire. Fight fire with calmness and water (unless its an oil fire, water will just make it more intense and you will burn your house down)

I guess that is all I have to say about this subject. Be nice everyone and stop being little brats and actually say thanks to your mom if she makes you lunch, breakfast, dinner or just does anything  for you.

Should cell phones be allowed in class?

I honestly think that we should. Music can help people focus on the task they are doing. Though they should only be allowed at break times and silent reading. Cellular phones are a big part of lots of peoples lives. They can give information  or store it for later, you could easily use a phone for note taking at any time  but, there are certain times where a cellular phone should not be used. Some examples of this are at maths time  and during lockdowns. If a child has their phone out during these times they should be taken away. Though cellular phones could be used with mal-intent. Kids, let alone kids on the internet, are ruthless when it comes to bullying. But overall, I think that cellular phones SHOULD be allowed in class and school. I hereby declare this case, closed.

School uniforms should be optinal.

Hello. For literacy I have been working on persuasive writing.  What I am sharing with you today is a response to ‘’School uniforms should be optional’’

I absolutely think that it should. As a child grows up the parents will need to buy new uniforms consisting of tops, pants, jackets and anything else. Looking at our own rawhiti uniform it costs $49.90 for a polar fleece, $29.90 for a shirt and $31.00 for shorts or a skort, $40.00 for a pair of pants and $12.50 for a sun hat. Imagine, a single parent has a child who needs to go to school. The parent is struggling to get by  and now they need to buy a uniform. They don't want to make the child feel bad for existing so the parent does all they can to make the child happy. The parent works their a-- off every day just to make the child happy, well dressed and well fed. They eat way less just to make sure the child has a proper feed. Imagine how much easier it would be if that parent did not need to buy a uniform. Also the parent would need to buy the uniform multiple times as the child grows up and then the senior jacket is $74 - $100, luckily though it's optional to buy. Overall I think that uniforms should be optional.

Year 7&8 skiing.

Hello. On tuesday I and some others went skiing at Porters.  It was about a 3 hour drive and the bus we were on had seat belts. Once we got there we waited in line for our numbers then put on our boots and got our ski’s. After grabbing our ski’s, helmet, boots, gloves and goggles/sunglasses we met up with our skiing instructor. The name of the instructor for my group was Nate. We started by learning how to put on our ski’s and that was easy. After practicing how to get up after falling and how to ski we skied down a small section of hill and did that over and over before going practicing how to turn. We had a line of cones and we had to weave in and out of the cones. I found that this was quite easy and so soon enough I was able to move on and go to the escalator thing to get higher up the mountain. Overall I only fell 3 times. While a few others fell quite a lot. I found that this trip was very fun and was a good learning experience.
